The Healthy Detroit Partnership is a cross-sector preventive health coalition working to:

  1. develop, implement, and track a 15-year Detroit Prevention Strategy guided by the Community Health Needs Assessments conducted by our local health systems.
  2. identify initiatives and goals and strategically (and collectively) advocate for more primary prevention funding to the region.
  3. create a regional public health collaborative to implement many of our shared community health initiatives.

The steering committee is led by the three de-facto members representing the three leading organizations. In addition, the steering committee includes leadership representation from the following entities: US Surgeon General's Office, Detroit Parks & Recreation Department, Detroit Police Department, City of Detroit Department of Neighborhoods, St. John Providence Health System, Beaumont Health, Henry Ford Health System, University of Michigan, Playworks, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, UnitedHealthcare, Central Detroit Christian Development Corporation, Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, among others. If you are interested in holding a seat on our steering committee, please contact

Much of the work of the steering committee will be complete by Fall 2018. If you would like your organization (regardless of sector) to participate in the Healthy Detroit Partnership coalition thereafter, simply send us an e-mail at The only requirement to participate in this initiative is to share our vision of building a Healthy Detroit through primary prevention.
